Seamus Cater - Live Electronics. Studied from 1995 till 1998 jazz at Salford University, Greater Manchester. From 2004-2005 studies Sonology at Royal Conservatory ,The Hague. Recent projects: Hills, not skyscrapers with Missy Mazzoli and Tom Parkinson. He composed diverse pieces for dance: ‘Face’ from Sara Wookey, premiere february 2004, Frascati. Assignments for production: The Sun Lost in the Sea from choreographer Uri Ivgi, Dance theatre Skane, Malmö, Sweden. Nobody, a solo performance by Uri Ivgi, premiere Karmiel Dance Festival, Israel, April 2003. In collaboration with Roddy Schrock he realized a sound installation for gallery 66 East (Amsterdam). He regulary contributes to 'Kraakgeluiden in de binnenstad'. Together with Koen Nutters he programmes the series 'Kraakgeluiden in de binnenstad' at Overtoom 301. As a performer his speciality is granular synthesis and working with Super Collider.
Oguz Büyükberber - clarinets. Born in Kayseri, 1970, Büyükberber started practising the clarinet by himself. Challenged by his visual handical, he initially chose visual arts and studied architecture and design at the Mimar Sinan University of Istanbul. Later on he started studying bass clarinet with Harry Spaarnay at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. From his strong Turkish background he composes music with diverse influences: from contemporary classic to free-jazz. He plays in several bands with established musicians, both from Turkey and the Netherlands. His music is within a broad range: jazz, ethnic and impro. Bands: Turqumstances, Fidan, Clarinets. He made three solo CD’s and played on 20 CD’s. He won three ‘best instrumentalist’ awards.
Wobbe van der Meulen - flute. Studied from 1986 to 1992 flute, both classical and jazz, at the Conservatory of Groningen. From 2000-2004 he finished the course Contemporary Music Through Non-Western Techniques at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. He did from 1992-1999 diverse projects as: Out to lunch (a tribute to Eric Dolphy). In this project the music of Dolphy was approached through contemorary influences from both rock and contemorary classical music. At the same time he joined several GAMMA projects. GAMMA is a group of musicians and composers based in Groningen, performing freshly composed music. From 2000-2006 Wobbe worked as a musician, composer, writer and actor for Nederlands Scheepvaart Museum Amsterdam, making educational theatre. Recent projects: Musica invisíble, a piece for flute solo and dance by Cecilia Arditto. ’Otimesmo’ a choros project by guitarist Bert Heikema. Interested in the sonoric possibilities of flute, Wobbe specialized in extended techniques such as: multiphonics and circular breathing. In Batscapez he explored new musical sources to enrich improvised music.
Enric Monfort - Percussion. Graduated cum laude with honors at Conservatori Superior de Musica de Castello in 2002, with the teacher Josep Vicent. Then, he moved to Amsterdam to do a percussion master at the Amsterdam Percussion Group Institue as well as the course Contemporary Music through Non-Western Techniques at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Enric is a many-side percussion player. He has worked with symphony orchestras like the Koninklijk Concertgebouw Orkest, Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Nationaal Jeugd Orkest from the Nederlands and modern ensembles like AXYZ ensemble, Ziggurat, the Amsterdam Percussion Group, Percussions de Castello. Since he was 14 years old, he has performed with many rock and ethnical groups. He feels mostly attracted to new music. Groups like Kabiosile Trio, hApGo Percussion Trio, Dmaathen Duo, Back to Square One Duo. Incidentally Enric performs as a DJ on the Ship of Fools.
Benny Ball - light. His career as a lighting designer has spanned nearly thirty years. Ben enjoyed numerous west-end credits ranging from big budget musicals to lighting artists such as Dean Martin when ever he came to town. He also enjoyed some long runs such as the Lawrence Olivier award winning rock and roll space musical 'Return to the Forbidden Planet'. Ben also lit, designed and directed many industrial theatre shows (trade shows) all over the world. His love of classical music assisted in him lighting many operas all over Europe and the UK's English National Opera and Opera North. In recent times Ben has designed some large night time etrxavaganza permanent installations in Dubai, India and China. He has worked as theatre consultant on new theatres including Shanghai's new opera house and Hong Kong's new repertory theatre. He is currently in production of a major drama mystery series for British television.
Clare Gallagher - sound. Clare has been working as a sound engineer since 1985, with a specialization in 'new music' since 1996. Now based in Amsterdam, she enjoys mixing people, and going places. She was born in Scotland and grew up in Australia. Having studied music and composition at La Trobe University in Melbourne, and electronics at The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology she found herself suddenly deciding to move to the Netherlands mid visit in 1998, in delighted response to the discovery of the Dutch contemporary music community. She has and continues to work for composers such as Michel v/d Aa, Yannis Kyriakides, and Caliope Tsoupaki and with ensembles such as musikFabrik, ASKO, Schoenberg Ensemble, and the MAE.
